#resultsareearned

results_are_earned

For anyone who follows me on twitter (fusionfitnessde) you may have noticed that after each tweet I #resultsareearned.  This is something that I have been preaching to my clients for the past couple of months.  I have been in this industry for over 17 years now and I have encountered a lot of people over the years and talked with them about their goals.

Fact:  The #1 goal of people that join a fitness center is to lose weight.  How many of those people actually achieve it?  If I were a betting man (which I am) I would say that a very high percentage of people never achieve their fitness goal that they set out to achieve.  If I had to guess I would say over 70% if not higher.  They usually give up out of frustration or boredom.  Most people think if they join a gym and start a workout routine that the pounds will magically come off and they will look like a cover model of a magazine.  After 4 weeks of walking on a treadmill and some bicep curls, they wonder why they have gained weight.  Let me tell you a little secret GENETICS SUCK!  If you naturally are not a size 2 or have 6 pack abs it is going to take a lot of work to get there and then you have to sustain it.  I am not telling you this because I do not want you to try to achieve your goals.  I am telling you this so you have your HEAD RIGHT when you begin on this journey.    #resultsareearned and if you are not willing to put the time in and the work, then DO NOT expect amazing results.  As fitness professionals we have failed people by letting them think it is easy to get the results they want.  Television shows and infomercials have lead people to believe that anyone can have a supermodel body.  The truth is anyone that is willing to put in the hard work, dedication, and willing to make it a lifestyle can get amazing results.  Some things just feel better when you earned them and did not have them handed to you(genetics).  Work hard, get results, and be proud of them.

#resultsareearned things to remember

  1. It did not come on over night and it will not come off overnight.  Be prepared for the marathon not the sprint.
  2. “You cannot outwork a bad diet” – I love this quote from Brett Klika of Fitness Quest 10 in San Diego.  No matter how hard you work, if you have a bad diet you will not get the results you want.
  3. 2 days a week is not going to cut it.  It is a good start but will not get you to the finish line.  I tell my clients to try and break a sweat everyday.
  4. Lift heavy – more muscle burns more calories
  5. Take short breaks – cut down on your rest time in between sets to burn more calories and work on your cardiovascular
  6. If you can read…it is not cardio – enough said!

Stay Focused..Work Hard..Get RESULTS!
